On the bank of a river, the apostle Paul addresses the women of the city of Philippi, who have gathered there to pray. One of the women, Lydia, has herself (in the background to the right) baptized together with her household. In the background to the left, Paul drives a spirit out of a woman. Paul and Silas are subsequently arrested and receive blows with sticks for disturbing the order. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Acts 16:14.
