About this work
The evangelist Luke writes his gospel under a tree. He sits on the winged ox. On the left in the background the crucifixion of Christ and the two thieves. Mary and others mourn at the foot of the cross. On the right in the background the adoration of the Christ Child by the shepherds. And further back the announcement to the shepherds. In the margin a four-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin.
