About this work
In his sleep Hercules is attacked by the Pygmies, who want to avenge the death of the giant Antaeus. The dead Antaeus lies on the left, Hercules lies sleeping on the right. Somnus brings Hercules to sleep. The Pygmies try to steal Hercules' club. But Hercules wakes up, grabs his opponents in his lion skin and continues. In the sky the struggle between Antaeus and Hercules is seen, the gods watch the scene from Olympus.
