About this work

Man sits in a bower, surrounded by his five senses. They enjoy food and drink. Under the table a monkey is chewing on a piece of fruit. The Latin inscription reveals that man uses his senses only for pleasure, instead of putting them at the service of God. He lets himself be led by his earthly desires just like the monkey.
