Reception and initiation of a new member of the Bentvueghels, ca. 1700. Members of the Bentvueghels, the group of Dutch artists in Rome, dressed as bacchants with a priest pointing a staff at the new member. One of them is bent forward, a burning candle protrudes from his buttocks. In the margin poems in Latin, Dutch and French.
