About this work
King David has Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba, recalled from the war. Uriah kneels, clad in his armor, before him. David urges Uriah to relax and accept the wine and food brought by servants. However, Uriah does not go home to sleep with his wife Bathsheba. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 2 Samuel 11.
