Job Hears the Bad News from Messengers

Job hears from three messengers of the calamity that has befallen him. In the doorway stands his wife, who holds her handkerchief to her face. In the landscape it can be seen how Job's cattle and camels are stolen, how his shepherds and cattle have perished by lightning, and how the house in the city on the left, in which Job's children were holding a feast, collapses in the storm.
