About this work

Mattathias kills a Jew who, according to the king's order, wanted to offer a sacrifice on the altar in Modeïn, and the king's envoy. Thus he showed his devotion to the law of God. Below the image, a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 1 Maccabees 2. This print is part of an album.
