About this work
Sick people wait by the pool of Bethesda until an angel comes to stir the water. A man who has been ill for thirty-eight years and has no one to carry him to the water lies in the foreground and is healed by Christ. Christ orders him to pick up his mat and walk. On the left the healed man walks with his mat on his back past the temple. Two Pharisees rebuke him for carrying a mat on the Sabbath. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in John 5. This print is part of an album.
