About this work

City view with the Seine and Pont-au-Change in Paris. On the right on the bank of the Ile de la Cité stands the Palais de Justice with the gate and on the corner the tower with the clock. In front of the bridge the bathhouses on the water are visible and behind the bridge just the tower of the Pompe Notre-Dame is visible. The artist influenced the atmosphere of the city view in different states by adding constantly changing details. In this version a man in the water of the Seine tries to attract the attention of men on a small boat. On the bridge a funeral procession with a hearse walks and birds circle in the air in front of a crescent moon.
