About this work

A man with a fishing rod over his shoulder, gazing into the distance. Beside him stands a black lacquer box tied with a red cord. The man is actor Ichikawa Danjûrô VII (1791-1859) in the role of the young fisherman Urashimatarô from an unknown play. The Dragon Capital in the series title refers to the palace of the Dragon King on the seabed, where Urashimatarô is taken by one of the princesses. Upon his return, hundreds of years have passed.
