About this work

The palace on the island of Alcina (the sorceress from 'Orlando Furioso' by Ariosto) disappears in a fantastic fireworks display. In the foreground, in front of the pond in the garden of Versailles where the spectacle takes place, Louis XIV sits with his retinue watching.
