About this work
Samson was mocked by the Philistines. In his anger, he strikes down a large group of men with a donkey's jawbone. On the right, Samson is seen drinking water from the donkey's jawbone to quench his thirst. In the background, the cause of the fight is depicted: Samson sets the Philistines' grain fields on fire using foxes with burning torches running through the fields. At the very back, Samson is shown carrying the gates of Gaza. The print is part of an album.
