Samson Defeats the Philistines with the Jawbone of an Ass

About this work
Samson was mocked by the Philistines. Out of anger he strikes down a large group of men with a jawbone. To the right it can be seen how Samson subsequently drinks water from the jawbone to quench his thirst. (The correct reading is that God caused the earth to open up in the hollow of the valley at Lehi. Water came out and Samson drank from it, so that he was fully recovered.) In the background the cause of the fight is depicted: Samson sets the cornfields of the Philistines on fire with the help of foxes that run through the fields with burning torches. Completely in the background Samson carrying the gates of Gaza.
