About this work
The Rich Man in Hell. He is tormented by hellish flames, demons and devils. The mouth of the hell-beast tries to swallow him. In a vision he sees the poor Lazarus on Abraham's lap. The patriarch rejects the rich man's pleas with a gesture. A devil holds a mirror up to the rich man. He forces the rich man to contemplate his own morality. The print is part of a series on the parable of the rich man and the poor Lazarus.
