About this work
In the foreground History sits with an open book bearing a title. Behind her stands Minerva with a bust of Roma. On the right Fortuna balances on a globe, she laurels the bust. Father Time with an hourglass on his head stands behind the three women with a board featuring turbans and swords. In the air Fame blows a trumpet, holding a portrait medallion in her hand. In the background on the right a burning city (possibly in the Macedonian monarchy), on the left an emperor sits under a baldachin.
