About this work
View of the stage of the Amsterdam Schouwburg during the outbreak of the fire on 11 May 1772. The fire started during the performance of the opera 'The Deserter'. On stage, actors flee and a burning set piece falls to the right. In the foreground, musicians flee the orchestra pit. Below the scene, the title and a two-line verse in Dutch (left) and French (right). Part of a series of four prints with a title print about the fire in the Amsterdam Schouwburg.
