About this work

View of the stage of the Amsterdam Schouwburg during the outbreak of the fire on 11 May 1772. The fire started during the performance of the opera 'De Deserteur'. On stage actors flee and on the right a burning set piece falls. In the foreground musicians flee from the orchestra pit. Below the image the title and a two-line verse in Dutch (left) and French (right). Part of a series of four prints with title print about the fire in the Amsterdam Schouwburg.
