About this work

In a dilapidated interior with low beam ceiling, a fight between men and women takes place, in which the woman 'has the upper hand'. On the right, a seated woman pulls on a man's trousers. A man kneeling in front of her tries to pull them off, a woman with hands on hips looks on. On the left, an old woman feels a man 'at the tooth' who is kneeling in front of her, in a pleading posture. In the doorway, a man draws his sword. On the left, a woman with a banner on which a hand is depicted and the text D'OVERHANT. Next to her, a man with a distaff behind the spinning wheel. A fighting couple in the corner. On the wall hangs a framed saying: Aut amat...MANUM. On a shelf on the wall, kitchen utensils. On the ground lies household tools.
