In the foreground, John the Baptist sits under a tree; next to him an open book with the words 'Vox Christi in deserto / Ecce Agnus Dei'. John points to the baptism of Christ in the Jordan, in the middle of the composition on the second plane, attended by two angels. The Holy Spirit descends upon Christ. In the clouds, God the Father in a frame of cherubs. Hilly landscape in the background.
