About this work
Christ hangs on the cross. An angel catches his blood in a chalice. In the upper right, God the Father with several angels. Standing before the cross are John the Evangelist and Mary. Mary Magdalene holds the cross. Around the scene an ornamental border with the instruments of the Passion. Above a cartouche with a one-line Latin text from John 1. Below a cartouche with a four-line Latin text from John 11.
