About this work
Two medallions with an ambiguous border inscription in German. On the left medallion a weeping woman says goodbye to her husband, who joins the army as a soldier. Between them stands a dog. On the right medallion a young woman sits in a sober room sewing. In front of her stands a farmer who embraces her and is about to kiss her.
