About this work
On a globe sits the female personification of Patience (Patientia), with shield and palm branch in her hands. She sits upon Envy (Discordia) and a skeleton (Death). Beside her Father Time, as an old man with goat legs, scythe, and hourglass. In the clouds, a putto places a helmet with laurel wreath on the head of Patience. To the right in the background, a man is attacked, behind him a burning city. In the margin, a four-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin.
