About this work

A procession of armed monks and other members of the League in Paris in 1593. Some monks shoot their guns around them, while a group of citizens looks on. On the left, some monks hold a flag aloft, depicting Saint George slaying the dragon with his lance. Between 1590 and 1593, similar processions were held more often in Paris.
