About this work
The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the tomb of King Mausolus, a Persian satrap of Halicarnassus from the 4th century BC. It was built after his death in 353 BC on the order of his widow, Queen Artemisia. The tomb has a rectangular shape, and on top of the structure stands a chariot. In the foreground, the queen under a parasol, accompanied by servants. In the front left, sculptors are carving a statue. Below the image, a verse in Latin. This print is part of an album.
