About this work

On 19 January 1784, Joseph Montgolfier, on the bank of the Rhône, stepped into a balloon, together with the physicist Pilâtre de Rozier. The hot air balloon floats above a specially prepared ground with spectators, outside the city of Lyon. In the evening Montgolfier will be honored in the Opera of Lyon.
