Standing man dressed in a 'manteau à l'Italienne'. Hat with hatband and buckle, knotted neckerchief, stockings with wave pattern, shoes with square buckles. The inscription states that this coat, in many variations, was in fashion in the middle of the reign of Louis XIV, until 1745. The ease of wearing is likely the cause of the revived fashion in 1780.
