About this work

Man dressed in a frock coat with collar ('coqueluchon') of red silk plush without buttons; cuffs and lining of the same black fabric. Underneath a vest of 'tricot chine' on red breeches. Ruffled jabot and cuffs. Stockings with decorated buckles. Accessories: hat, walking stick with ribbon and tassels, brooches, shoes with square buckles. Copy after R 99 from series R. 17e Cahier des Costumes Français, 11e Suite d'Habillemens à la mode en 1779, Gallerie des Modes et Costumes Français.
