About this work

Woman in a printed spotted gown. On her head a straw canopy hat. Parasol or umbrella in hand. Beside her, a woman with a hat of 'paille de riz' on her head. Redingote of mousseline lined with taffeta and trimmed with lace. Further accessories: brooch(?), knotted belt with tassels at the ends, handkerchief, fan. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, Paris, 1797-1839.
