About this work

Woman with a red flower on her 'Chapeau Cornette', a head covering that is a hybrid between a hat and a cap. She wears a long white jacket with a small train, over which is a short king-blue spencer with a standing collar, crossed front panels and long, tight sleeves falling to the hand. Light brown gloves. Flat blue shoe with pointed toe. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
