About this work

Woman in a 'gros de Naples' bodice, decorated with a ruffled strip with a scalloped hem. On her head a hat of satin decorated with flowers and Blonde (bobbin lace). Around her shoulders a scarf of 'cachemire français' (cashmere). Further accessories: glove, bracelet on the left wrist, flat shoe with pointed toe and bow. To the right, a sitting woman, seen from the back, dressed in the same bodice. Print from the fashion magazine *Petit Courrier des Dames* (1821-1868).
