About this work

Standing woman dressed in a ball gown from the 'magasins de Mr Burty'. She wears a fichu 'à la Duchesse', from the 'magasins du Mariage enfantin'. 'Coiffure' by Mr. Narcisse, hairdresser to 'S.A.R. Madame Amelie' Princess of Saxony. Accessories: diadem, earring in the right ear, necklace with round pendant, fan, corsage of flowers, long gloves, flat shoes with pointed toes and crossed straps. To the left, a sitting woman, seen from the back, dressed in the same bodice. Print from the fashion magazine *Petit Courrier des Dames* (1821-1868).
