About this work

An arm-in-arm couple is talking with a boy, seen from the back. The woman is dressed in an equestrian costume (riding habit) of 'casimir'. On her head a 'toque béarnaise' of velvet. Whip in hand. The cavalier wears an 'habit' of wool over a piqué vest and long trousers of 'casimir'. On his head a tall hat. The boy is dressed in a jacket of wool over long trousers of ticking. According to the caption: costumes by Humann. Below, several lines of advertising text for various products. Print from the fashion magazine Le Follet Courrier des Salons (November 1829–October 1882).
