About this work

A bride, woman and girl around a 'corbeille de mariage' or bridal basket. Left: 'toilette' suitable for a girl of eight to ten years old. Dress of 'tarlatane', decorated with 'petits velours'. Bodice decorated with berthe and lace. Middle: 'toilette de ville'. Dress of taffeta, decorated with cords and tassels of silk and chenille. 'Chapeau Marie-Stuart' of white crêpe, decorated with Blonde (bobbin lace) and feathers, taffeta petticoats. Right: 'toilette de mariée'. Bridal dress of 'moire antique', decorated with lace. According to the caption: 'modes' by Alexandrine. Below the scene a few lines of advertising text for various products. Print from the fashion magazine Le Journal des Dames et des Demoiselles (1841-1902). Extensive description of the clothing on page 179 "DESCRIPTION DE LA PLANCHE DE MODES."
