About this work

Left: Dress with train, round neck, and knitted short sleeves consisting of three pleated strips. Bodice with high collar and under-sleeves. Hat with feather plume. Necklace with a small purse with a clasp. Holding a parasol. Right: Long jacket with rounded front panels on a skirt with flat pleats. Both identically decorated at the hem. Hat with upturned brim, decorated with a bird. Flower corsage. Purse with clasp and umbrella in hand. On either side, a line drawing of the two backs. In the background, a view of the sea. According to the caption: 'toilettes' by Mmes Forcillon Soeurs. Perfumery by Houbigant. Print from the fashion magazine Journal des Demoiselles (1833-1922).
