About this work
The Temptation of Saint Anthony. In a cave, the kneeling Anthony prays with folded hands before an open book resting on a skull. The hermit is surrounded by all kinds of devils and monsters trying to distract him. In the sky a bat, and a frog and a bird on flying fish hold a joust. On the left in the foreground a devil in a monk's hood with a rosary.
