About this work
Mountain landscape with ruins and a crawling, emaciated Erysichthon. After Erysichthon has felled the tree of Ceres, Ceres sends a nymph in her chariot drawn by dragons to Scythia to ask Hunger to punish him. Below the image the text from Ovid's Metamorphoses, book 8, lines 799-801. At the top the sign of the Capricorn from the zodiac. The print is part of an album.
