About this work

Various scenes of the death of John the Baptist. On the right, Salome dances at Herod's feast. On the left in the foreground lies the beheaded John the Baptist, his hands bound. The executioner offers the head to Salome, who holds up a dish. In the background, Salome presents the head to Herodias and John's body is buried (Mark 6:21). Bottom right, the number the print had in an earlier edition: 74. The print is part of an album.
