About this work
Top left, the pedestal with the golden calf is crushed. In the foreground, the golden calf lies in the fire. Several men try to stoke the fire by adding wood. The dust that remained from the image is thrown into the mountain stream on the right (Deut. 9:21). The print is part of an album.
