About this work
The dead body of Christ is anointed and wrapped in linen. Various women, including Mary and Mary Magdalene, mourn at his bier. In the background on the right Christ is carried into the rock tomb. On the left the guards arrive who will guard the tomb. Letters are placed at various elements in the image. Above the image a title. Below it six lines of verse and a reference to Matthew 27: 57-61. The print forms part of an album.
