About this work

Pharisees and scribes have come from Jerusalem to ask Christ questions about his doctrine. On the right in the background Christ's disciples sit at the table. The Pharisees take it amiss to Christ that his disciples eat with unwashed hands. The tradition of washing hands is depicted on the left in the background. Letters are placed at various elements of the representation. The print is part of an album.
