Christ heals a deaf man who spoke imperfectly

Christ travels through the region of Decapolis. There a man is brought to him who is deaf and speaks with difficulty. He takes the man aside, away from the crowd, puts his fingers in his ears and touches his tongue with saliva. The representation is based on the biblical text from Mark 7:31-37. This is described in the Statenvertaling as: "And they brought unto Him a deaf man, which had an impediment in his speech, and besought Him that He would put his hand upon him." In the New Bible Translation 21 it states: "There someone was brought to Him who was deaf and had difficulty speaking, and they begged Him to lay his hand on this man."
