About this work
The prodigal son has squandered his inheritance and hires himself out to a farmer as a swineherd. He kneels among the pigs to eat with them from the trough. In the background he repents and departs to his father. Letters stand next to various elements of the scene. Above the image a title. Below it six lines of verse and a reference to Luke 15: 11-16. The print is part of an album.
