About this work

A man with a red, swollen head sits in a chair with a print stand in front of him holding a portfolio of prints from 'Le Courrier Français'. With his right hand he throws several prints into the fireplace. Next to him stands a half-naked maid hanging prints on a clothesline. On the mantelpiece stands a bust of Minerva and on the back of the chair sits an owl.
