About this work

A man with a flushed red face sits in a chair before a print stand holding prints from 'Le Courrier Français'. With his right hand, he throws several prints into the fireplace. Next to him stands a half-naked maid hanging prints on a clothesline. On the mantelpiece stands a bust of Minerva, and an owl sits on the back of the chair.
