Satirical print on the cessation of publication of the magazine 'Ouderwetsche Nederlandsche patriot', 1781

Satirical print on the temporary suspension of publication and alleged end of the Orangist periodical 'Ouderwetsche Nederlandsche patriot' on 31 December 1781. Four speakers with a dogcart stop at the house of the court bookseller P.F. Gosse in The Hague to collect the corpse. In the hearse a man (possibly Gosse) in a wheelbarrow with a painting, R.M. van Goens with Miss ten Bosch in a cage, Pastor Hofstede, a man (E. Luzac) on a sled with two paintings, two Rotterdam booksellers and the Duke of Brunswick. Also jesters, devils and a large procession of weeping people. The caption contains two four-line verses. The print is accompanied by a text sheet with a funeral poem explaining the image.
