Meeting of The Antiquarian Society with the chairman at the head of the table, seated under a bust of King George III of England. On the table are various antiquities and on the wall a painting with Henry VIII of England. Around the table sit or stand the members of the society: figures from British cultural life, largely identifiable by the objects or writings they hold.
