About this work

An extremely old man sits on a chair in a niche. On top of the ruin sits Father Time with a scythe, hourglass, and an owl. In front of the man, by a hole in the ground, stands Death. Various ruins and broken columns are scattered across the landscape. Symbols of worldly power also lie there: a crown, a scepter, a sword, and a book. In the margin, a four-line text in two columns in Latin. The print is part of an album.
