About this work

An emblem with two scenes: above, a caduceus or staff of snakes with a cornucopia on either side and two clasped hands; below, two crossed olive branches with the Tables of the Law on the right and possibly a girdle on the left. Thereby a crown and three French lilies. These are the devices of King Charles IX of France.
