About this work

Princess Kumo no Taema seduces the priest Narukami at the waterfall. Narukami has imprisoned the rain god in the waterfall, causing the land to suffer from severe drought. Taema makes him drink sake from the gourd in her right hand, so that she can later free the rain god. Scene from a kabuki play. Poem by Minamoto no Toshiyori Ason.
